Over the years, SMIF has provided knowledge, information, and resources that help communities identify mental illness symptoms, adopt preventive and management techniques, and make informed decisions. We plan to establish community hubs for access to mental health professionals and recreational centres that strengthen brain function through daily engagement.

SMIF

Hope and Dignity Restore

Through therapy, education, and community support, SMIF helps restore confidence and hope — empowering people to rediscover their value and live meaningful lives.

Research Evidence

Mental health is integral to overall health. While genetics and the social, economic, and physical environment contribute to mental illness, SMIF’s work addresses these determinants through prevention, care and empowerment.

Nigeria faces a significant burden of mental health challenges, with limited access to quality services. Knowledge gaps and stigma prevent many from seeking help. SMIF advocates for policy attention, accessible care, and public education.
