September is Suicide Prevention Month: Join Us in Creating Awareness and Empowering Change

As we enter September, we recognise it as Suicide Prevention Month—a time to raise awareness about mental health issues, promote prevention strategies, and support those affected by suicide. At the Stop Mental Illness Foundation, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals and communities across Nigeria.
This year, we are excited to announce our partnership with Dr. Ola and the Change Circle Initiative. Together, we aim to educate, empower, and create awareness about mental health and suicide prevention in Nigeria.
The Importance of Awareness
Suicide is a critical public health issue that affects people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. In Nigeria, the stigma surrounding mental illness often prevents individuals from seeking help, leading to devastating consequences. By shining a light on mental health, we can break down these barriers and foster an environment where individuals feel safe to express their struggles.
 Our Initiatives
Throughout September, we will be hosting a series of events and activities aimed at raising awareness and providing valuable resources:
1. Workshops and Seminars*: Join us for educational workshops led by mental health professionals, including Dr. Ola. These sessions will cover topics such as recognizing warning signs, effective communication strategies, and coping mechanisms for individuals in crisis.
2. Community Outreach : We will engage with local communities through outreach programs, providing information and resources on mental health and suicide prevention. Our goal is to reach as many individuals as possible and ensure they know they are not alone.
3. Social Media Campaigns: Follow us on our social media platforms as we share stories, statistics, and tips for mental health awareness. Use the hashtag #StopTheStigma to join the conversation and spread the word.
4. Support Services:  We will provide access to mental health resources, including hotlines and counselling services, to ensure that individuals in need can find help.

With a solid academic background, she has dedicated her life to raising awareness about mental health issues and providing support to individuals suffering from mental illness. Mrs. Odudimu is also a published author, mentor, and a loving mother and wife. Her tireless efforts have earned her numerous accolades and honors, making her a true role model and a beacon of hope for those affected by mental illness.
